Barcelona’s French defender Samuel Umtiti is expected to be offered the chance from head coach Ronald Koeman again.

Barcelona’s French defender Samuel Umtiti insists he is fit and ready to play, but has to prove in training that he deserves a chance from his trainer. As reported by Mundo Deportivo on Tuesday. 

‘I feel great physically. I’m patient with training and I really want to play. I’m waiting for the time to come back on the field again. But on a physical level, I’m fine.’

Asked why he hasn’t been given the opportunity to play, Umtiti insisted he has to prove himself in training and believes the opportunity will come soon.

‘Why didn’t I play? The coach decides and I have to accept it. if i don’t play I have to train more than anyone else and show that I am at the level where I can do that.’

The French defender added that although he trains every day but still lacks the rhythm necessary for playing due to being separated from the ring for a long time 

‘We can practice every day. But I lacked the rhythm of the competition, the rhythm, the rhythm, I hope I can get it.’

Asked by reporters if he had asked Ronald Koeman to send him on the pitch directly, Umtiti insisted he couldn’t do that and had to prove his worth first. 

‘I can’t ask for anything. Because the coach decides and I have to accept it. I have to practice and show that I’m okay, I won’t ask for it. I think it shouldn’t be. So I have to prove it on the pitch,’ said the French defender.
